Refund, Returns and Cancellation Policies:
Due to variations inherent in all natural stone & pebble products, we highly advocate that you purchase samples before you place your final order in an effort to color match to your specific application. The price of samples is refundable towards your final purchase. Please take into account that colors appear differently to a certain extent on each computer monitor so there may be a variance. Also all tiles shown are sealed with a high gloss wet look stone enhancer to bring out the true beauty of our products. These sealers are available at any big box home improvement store such as Home Depot or Lowe's.
If you are not completely satisfied with the materials you have ordered, you may return the merchandise within 15 days of receipt. All returns have a 25% restocking fee, and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. All refunds are assessed on the premise that all merchandise is returned in the original packing and in good condition. Any damage endured during the first shipment is dependent on the shipper's claim policy and is not the liability of the distributor. Any replacement products must be purchased and a refund will be issued upon receipt of claim payment.
Damage in transit can take place if the the materials are not repackaged correctly, or if the original boxes were harmed during the primary transit. Please confirm that all return merchandise is packaged correctly to prohibit any damage. If the original boxes are damaged from the initial transit, repackaging is satisfactory given that the return materials are received in new condition. If tiles are damaged during transit by the shipper, we will refund you, less the amount of damaged tiles. It is your responsibility to file claims against the shipper for any tiles damaged during return.
We do not offer any refunds or returns on installed products. Please inspect your merchandise upon arrival to confirm that you have received the correct quantity and color.
Since all of our natural stone products are handmade by regional craftspeople, variations are to be expected. Color and individual stone size can vary from lot to lot, so we highly advise you to validate square footage and potential overages to avoid mixing color lots. Also, disparities among the same lot are possible, and as such we recommend installers inspect all materials prior to beginning installation.
While we make every attempt to guarantee outstanding quality and uniformity with all of our products, the distributor & manufacturer make no assumed or implied warranty in respect to color, size or variation from stone to stone or piece to piece.
Frequently Asked Questions:
HOW DO I CALCULATE HOW MANY SHEETS I NEED?
Since each individual sheet is just under a full square foot (actual size = 0.98 sf/pc), we recommend dividing your total square footage by 0.98 and then rounding up to the next whole number. For example, if you have 10 square feet you will need 11 pieces. This will compensate for any extra space you may need to cover, and also help you avoid being under on a job.
HOW MANY SHEETS ARE IN A BOX?
Each box contains 11 pieces (10.78 square feet / 1 square meter)
WHY ARE THEY CALLED "INTERLOCK"?
We use this title to imply a seamless look when installed. Basically, each individual tile is cut to line up (i.e. "interlock) with the adjacent tiles in such a way as to minimize a straight grout line.
CAN THESE PRODUCTS BE INSTALLED OVER AN EXISTING SURFACE (TILES, CONCRETE, WOOD, ETC)?
Yes, so long as there is a reasonably level surface. Since each tile is mesh-backed, they will conform to certain pitches such as those necessary for shower floors, and also around curves.
CAN I INSTALL THESE TILES MYSELF?
Of course! While there is work involved, most people choose to install themselves, and a set of installation instructions are provided with every order.
1. Make sure installation surface is clean and free of dust and debris. Repair all surface imperfections such as cracks or other flaws. Areas to be exposed to water may require use of concrete board and/or waterproof membrane to prevent leakage to sub-floor, walls, or lower level rooms.
2. Measure and strike plumb lines as with conventional tile installation.
3. Using a 1/2" notch trowel, apply thinset and lay pieces uniformly. Keep a level handy to check for high spots.
4. Remove any excess thinset which may have pushed through to the grout level and fill in any void areas along walls or borders as needed.
5. Remove any outstandingly high stones and replace before grouting. Allow thinset to dry for 12 hours before grouting.
6. Apply a coat of pre-grout sealer to fill in small holes (common on more porous stone) and to facilitate easy grout removal. See sealer instructions for dry time.
7. Grout evenly, ensuring good coverage. Use scotch pad after grout float to ensure even grouting. Allow to set up before using grout brush to help remove excess. Make sure the apex of every stone or pebble is visible. Use a sponge to smooth the remaining grout while cleaning the tops of the stones. Remove as much film and haze as possible. Multiple wipes will be necessary for best results. Allow 12 hours dry time.
8. Check job over for any grout remaining on stone surface, which can be gently sanded off or scraped with a small chisel. Remove final haze by washing with either a sulfamic acid mixture (recommended) or a strong vinegar solution.
9. Allow grout to cure for 72 hours before applying a quality sealer or stone enhancer for the most vivid result. At least two coats of sealer are recommended; refer to sealer instructions for application frequency and dry times.
CAN THEY BE INSTALLED ON WALLS?
Yes, you start at the bottom and work your way up. Apply enough thinset for two or three courses and then firmly press each sheet into it. Then, place a nail into each corner of every sheet to hold them in place while the thinset dries. Once it is grouted, the nails will be covered.
WHAT DO I DO WHEN I REACH THE EDGE OF MY INSTALLATION AREA AND HAVE LESS THAN 12" REMAINING?
Just pull off the extra stones and cut the mesh to fit your specific area.
WHAT KIND OF GROUT SHOULD I USE? WHAT COLOR GROUT SHOULD I USE?
We recommend using a sanded grout. While the color is purely aesthetic and therefore largely a personal choice, please be aware that using a grout color similar to the stones will create a feeling of extra space, whereas using contrasting grout colors will create a feeling of smaller space.
CAN THE STONES BE CUT IN ORDER TO CREATE STRAIGHT EDGES?
Since the grout will fill in any openings along edges, it is unnecessary to cut the stones. However, they can be cut using a wet tile saw, but if this must be done we recommend using extreme caution. Cutting should be done by professional installers only.
HOW CAN I GO AROUND CORNERS, LIKE AROUND THE BOTTOM OF A TOILET?
Since each stone is individually glued to the mesh, they can be easily removed to conform to any corners or holes (such as a shower drain). Then just cut the mesh away and you're all set.
DO YOU HAVE ANY STORES IN MY AREA WHERE I CAN SEE THEM?
No, since we are the direct importers, we have no retailers or distributors. As wholesalers selling direct to the public, we can offer you the best prices. We also offer samples which can be refunded towards the price of your final order.
CAN I BUY THEM SEALED?
We do not sell these products sealed. However there are a number of high-gloss sealers & stone enhancers available at any Lowe's or Home Depot which will bring out the true color of the stones.
CAN THESE TILES BE USED OUTDOORS?
Yes, they can be used for any type of outdoor application, including below the waterline in pools and spas. Since they are natural stones, they are very durable and can withstand any temperature extremes.
ARE THE PEBBLES UNCOMFORTABLE TO WALK ON IN BARE FEET?
No, since all of our pebbles are hand selected, the surface is flush and level. Also, since they are smaller pebbles or stones, they actually offer MORE traction in wet areas than conventional tiles, hence being used commonly around pool decks and in shower floors.
CAN THEY BE USED FOR A SHOWER FLOOR?
Yes, this is a very common application for these products. They can also be used in pools and spas below the waterline where they are continuously submerged.
HOW DO I MAINTAIN THEM?
Once the stones are sealed, they can be cleaned with any household cleaners or detergents. Do not use abrasive cleaners as these may damage the sealer coat.
